Welcome to theHTPC.net Wiki
This is home to the new theHTPC.net Wiki! I hope to provide all of you with the means to create and find the information YOU want in respect to Home Theater PCs.
As it is now, information is scattered everywhere and if you’re just getting started, it can be quite overwhelming. I’d like for this wiki to provide you with information in a condensed form that will allow you to get started today!
Getting Started
If you’re an experienced wiki editor and are an HTPC enthusiast, please sign-up and start contributing! If you’re knowledgeable in HTPC technology and would like to contribute, I’d still love to have you. The DokuWiki syntax is not hard to learn. I have enabled the usage of some simple bbCode to help in your transition and there is a number of additional syntax plugins installed to get you on your way to creating some terrific content. Just keep in mind that the DokuWiki syntax is much more powerful, so it would benefit everyone that you try to learn it when contributing. Not to mention the fact that once you get the hang of the syntax used here, contributing is actually FUN!
Expectations
I don’t think anyone that would want to be involved with this project would like to see it fail, so expectations on content for this wiki are high. If you can’t improve upon an article, please don’t edit it. Please avoid any potential copyright issues by citing information if it did not originate from you. I would actually prefer a link directing our readers to information so that we can reduce the amount of redundant information. This will drive readers to where they can get the best source for their search, decrease the amount of work you have to do and avoid any copyright complications in the process.
Remember
This wiki is set out to be a ‘hub’ for information…not so much a collection of it.
Registration
Registration for the wiki is required if you wish to contribute. Unfortunately, valid logins at theHTPC.net will not gain you access here. It was initially planned, but some technical difficulties prevented it. I think it will be in the best interest of this resource to keep them separate anyway.
Thanks for stopping by and, please, share!
